Mission Field: September 2005

I just got this picture. These are the grand winners of the Pinewood Derby held in La Carpio on August 2, 2005.

They put in a hard day's work but it was well worth it.

Urania, a Carpio resident who works with the adolescent girls, and her family looking through the fence to find out what a Pinewood Derby is.

This is the first time the boys had heard about a Pinewood Derby. Here they're in line to get their kit. The team brought 85 kits in addition to the track and 2 Dremmel tools that came in very handy. The boys loved using the Dremmel Tools.

How can an ex-Royal Ranger not want to help with the Pinewood Derby? Chandler came to work with CFC in the Summer and is now back home attending college.

Adam, volunteering with CFC, was helping Carlos. I was helping with the Dremmel tool and if you notice my arm full of sawdust, likewise was the rest of me.

Some of the boys brought their own knife to whittle their cars. How do you like the blade they're using? (between the cars)

Cristian was so much into making his car that he didn't race it.

Gustavo (white T-shirt) is the Director of Nuevos Horizontes. A ministry for boys in La Carpio. He was very thankful for the work the team did and the blessing this was for the boys.

The team provided the food for the group and Carmen prepared it and served it. Rice with chicken, salad, chips, drink...Delicious!!! Lisbeth is helping serve the drinks.

Hard work makes for a hungry boy. They were ready to eat.

Lorena and her daughter, Isis, also helped in preparing and serving the food. Hmmm....it looks as if Greivin, Asst. Director, is trying to get more chips.
